Draw/Measure
Where mature bucks bed and feel safe — built from your pins, shapes and Scan, plus Contors’ proprietary Buck Refuge model.
How the heat is built
It grades refuge quality — how good a spot is for a mature buck to bed and feel safe. Green is prime, yellow is middling, red is poor.
A spot earns green by stacking several things together: thick bedding cover, distance from human pressure (roads, trails, access and structures, fading with distance), the right travel distance off food (a band that widens through the rut), nearby water, and bedding terrain (benches, points, draws, leeward).
Because those factors multiply, ground can read red with no roads anywhere near it — open fields and bare timber simply lack cover, so they’re poor refuge on their own. Heavy human pressure then paints red on top of that.
Built on Contors' own mature-buck model — security cover, terrain bedding and pressure, weighted for the season. Updates live from your pins, shapes, Scan and the season. Decision support from your inputs, not a guarantee.

Before Scout answers
Contors’ Scout AI is powered by Anthropic. To read your ground it sends:
Your question
Your property — boundary, stands, pins, routes, zones, notes, and current conditions
Satellite imagery of your boundary, and any Buck Score photo
Your ground stays yours.Never used to train AI, never sold, never shared with other users. Privacy Policy
Without this, Scout, Buck Score and the AI habitat and land reads stay off. Maps, lidar, terrain, weather and everything else work as normal. You can turn it on any time.
What Scout can do
Scout has read your map — your boundary, stands, cameras, routes, journal and today’s weather. Talk to it like a hunting partner who already knows the place. It answers, and it can change the map for you.
Ask about your ground
“Which stand should I sit tonight?”
“Where are the bucks bedding on a north wind?”
“Read the terrain on the east side.”
“Why is this spot good?”
Have it change the map
“Drop a stand on that ridge.”
“Rename that pin to Creek Bottom.”
“Draw a route from the truck to the north stand.”
“Move the camera 40 yards east.”
“Mark the food plot as thick cover.”
Bucks & sightings
“Log a sighting of Split Brow at the pinch.”
“Show me everywhere Split Brow has shown up.”
“Add a buck called Kicker.”
Get around the app
“Turn on lidar.”
“Switch to my other property.”
“Open offline maps.”
“Remember that I hunt mornings only.”
Scout works best with your ground mapped — the more stands, cameras and notes it can see, the more specific the answers. It can be wrong; check anything that matters before you act on it.

What is this area?·
Pick a type — it sets the color & feeds the prediction model. You can change any of it later by tapping the shape.
Say how tall, how thick, can you see through it, is there browse/food, do deer bed there. Optional — but it’s the most valuable thing you can add.
Map tiles can't load in this preview
This in-app preview blocks outside map & weather servers, so imagery, parcels, scan and live weather won't load here. Nothing is broken.
Open this file in a browser (Chrome / Safari) and it all streams live. On a phone, host it free (tiiny.host / Netlify Drop) and Add to Home Screen to use it like an app.
Export this property
Photos, journal entries and Scout conversations stay in your account and are not in the file.

CONTRS — how it works
Imagery / data: Esri & USGS NAIP imagery, Google satellite/hybrid, USGS topo, USGS 3DEP lidar hillshade (real 3-D relief), USGS hydrography & contours, elevation from Mapzen Terrain Tiles hosted by AWS Open Data, public lands from USGS PAD-US 4.1 (Gap Analysis Project), nationwide parcel lines from LOVELAND Technologies (licensed), BLM PLSS, OpenStreetMap (roads/water/ag/cover via Scan), and Open-Meteo weather.
Buck refuge model grades the land from human pressure (roads, parking, buildings, scanned access) decaying with distance, then highlights low-pressure interior security cover sitting a travel-band off food & water. It’s a heuristic from your inputs + scanned roads — mark food/water/access/pressure and hit Scan to sharpen it.
Strategy & wind: every stand is scored and ranked for the chosen wind & time — the top pick is flagged ★ Best now — blending scent geometry vs bedding, the stand's best winds (multi-pick in its popup), thermal timing & status. Pick a hunt date/hour and it scores on that hour's forecast wind. Solunar major/minor feeding times, dawn/dusk and the rut phase factor in too.
In the field: tap a marker → 🧭 Navigate here for live distance & bearing as you walk in (and the 🅿 button heads back to the nearest parking — your truck). The Hunt journal auto-captures wind, temp, moon & rut with every entry and surfaces patterns over the season. Your map is backed up locally and synced to your account — restore any recent version from My account.
CONTRS AI (the ✦ button) reads your live map — stands, bedding, wind, acreage, weather, rut phase — and answers in plain language (“how many stands do I have”, “best stand for this wind”, “where are bucks bedding”). Full answers need the app opened in a browser or hosted online; offline it still handles data questions directly.
Honest limits: landowner names come from county records via Regrid and can lag recent filings — verify before you knock on a door, and note we don’t provide phone numbers. Coverage is nationwide but not every county reports the same fields. Crop layers are classified from satellite data, not ground truth, so confirm cover & bedding with imagery, contours & the scan. The prediction model is decision support, not a guarantee.
