What's the heat map accounting for?

Red (pressure) = human intrusion, summed from every source and fading with distance: roads & vehicle routes (strongest), ATV trails, walking routes (light), parking, houses/cabins/barns, plus roads/buildings found by Scan.

Green (refuge) = where a mature buck can live. It combines: security (the inverse of pressure, squared so deer strongly favor low-pressure ground), a cover bonus (inside cutover/thick brush, pines, sanctuary, hardwoods you've drawn), a food staging band (a travel distance off feed/ag/plots that shifts with the rut phase — wider during the rut, tight to food late season), and a water bonus near ponds/creeks. Penalized for being in the open or right on a food source.

It updates live as you add pins, draw shapes, lay routes, Scan, or as the season changes. It's decision support from your inputs — not a guarantee.

Imagery / data (all free): Esri & USGS NAIP imagery, Google satellite/hybrid, USGS & OpenTopo topo, Esri hillshade (blended for real 3-D relief), USGS hydrography & contours, Regrid nationwide parcel lines, BLM PLSS, OpenStreetMap (roads/water/ag/cover via Scan), Open-Meteo weather, RainViewer radar, plus any ArcGIS layer you paste in.

Buck refuge model grades the land from human pressure (roads, parking, buildings, scanned access) decaying with distance, then highlights low-pressure interior security cover sitting a travel-band off food & water. It’s a heuristic from your inputs + scanned roads — mark food/water/access/pressure and hit Scan to sharpen it.

Strategy & wind: every stand is scored and ranked for the chosen wind & time — the top pick is flagged ★ Best now — blending scent geometry vs bedding, the stand's best winds (multi-pick in its popup), thermal timing & status. Pick a hunt date/hour and it scores on that hour's forecast wind. Solunar major/minor feeding times, dawn/dusk and the rut phase factor in too.

In the field: tap a marker → 🧭 Navigate here for live distance & bearing as you walk in (and the 🅿 button heads back to the nearest parking — your truck). The Hunt journal auto-captures wind, temp, moon & rut with every entry and surfaces patterns over the season. Your map is backed up locally and synced to your account — restore any recent version from My account.

CONTRS AI (the ✦ button) reads your live map — stands, bedding, wind, acreage, weather, rut phase — and answers in plain language (“how many stands do I have”, “best stand for this wind”, “where are bucks bedding”). Full answers need the app opened in a browser or hosted online; offline it still handles data questions directly.

Welcome to Contors. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Contors LLC ("Contors," "we," "us") governing your access to and use of the Contors website, web application, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Contors is an outdoor-intelligence and mapping platform that helps you map property, mark stands and features, analyze wind and weather, and receive AI-generated planning suggestions ("Scout"). The Service is provided as decision-support and informational tools only. It is not a substitute for your own judgment, field verification, or compliance with the law.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your password secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of the maps, markers, routes, notes, and other content you create ("Your Content"). You grant Contors a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you (including syncing it to your account and generating AI responses you request). You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights to any information you upload.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; trespass on or hunt land you are not legally permitted to access; violate any hunting, wildlife, firearm, or land-use law or regulation; reverse-engineer, scrape, resell, or copy the Service; or interfere with its operation or security. You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

5. Scout (AI Assistant)

Scout produces automated suggestions based on the data on your map and third-party data. Its output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong, and is provided for informational purposes only. It is not professional, legal, safety, or wildlife-management advice and is not a guarantee of results. You are solely responsible for any decisions you make.

6. Outdoor & Hunting Safety Disclaimer

Hunting and outdoor activity are inherently dangerous. Maps, boundaries, imagery, and data in the Service may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete and must not be relied upon to determine legal property lines, land ownership, public/private boundaries, or safe travel. Always independently verify boundaries, permissions, conditions, and the law before acting. You assume all risk arising from your use of the Service and your activities in the field.

7. Third-Party Data & Services

The Service relies on third-party providers for imagery, maps, weather, elevation, geocoding, and AI processing. That data is provided "as is," may change or become unavailable, and is subject to those providers' terms. Contors does not control and is not responsible for third-party data or services.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and the Contors name and logo, is owned by Contors LLC and protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONTORS, LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR PROPERTY, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS OR USD $50.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Contors LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or any law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date, and continued use after changes means you accept them.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alabama.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Contors LLC ("Contors," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Contors website and app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: the name and email address you provide when you create an account.
Your map content: the markers, stands, routes, zones, notes, observations, and journal entries you create, including their coordinates.
Location data: if you enable it, your device's GPS location, used to show your position, navigate, and pull local weather. You control this through your browser/device permissions.
Usage data: basic technical information needed to operate the Service (e.g., errors, last-saved timestamps).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide and sync the Service; save and restore your maps; generate weather, elevation, and AI ("Scout") suggestions you request; maintain security; and support you. We do not sell your personal information, and Contors does not display third-party ads.

3. Location Data

Location is used only to provide map and planning features (your position, navigation, local forecast). Coordinates you save as markers/routes are stored as part of your map content under your account. You can disable location access at any time in your browser or device settings.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

To run the Service, your data may be processed by trusted providers acting on our behalf or supplying data, including: Supabase (account, authentication, and cloud storage of your map); map & imagery providers (e.g., Google, Esri/USGS, OpenStreetMap); Open-Meteo (weather & elevation); OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (search & geocoding); and Anthropic (the AI model that powers Scout). When you ask Scout a question, relevant information about your map and question is sent to the AI provider to generate a response. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with the service providers above to operate the Service, or if required by law. The "invite a hunting partner" feature shares a link to your map only with the person you choose to send it to.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your account and map data are stored with our cloud provider and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Some data may also be cached locally on your device so the app works offline. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Your Choices & Rights

You can view and edit your account and map data at any time in the app. You can delete your account and all associated data using "Delete my account & all data" in your account settings, or by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your associated map data from active systems.

9. Children

The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
